Stumpathon III

When shopping at the compound mini-mart, the clerk rings up 27.55 SR (= Saudi Riyal). If I give him (George) three 10 SR notes, how much change does he hand me?

FYI the current exchange rate is $1 US = 3.755 SR but this is not relevant to the answer - just thought you should know.

  1. My guess is 2 SR plus some packs of gum. In Egypt (and sometimes Mexico) they handle small change by giving gum since they often don't have it.

  2. Wes, your blogs are delightful and the only real literature that I read these days, so keep them coming!
Yesterday one of our Egyptian alumni (now at WPIC) brought me a big box of middle eastern pastries which I will enjoy with family on Thanksgiving. I'd love to share these with you, but I take comfort in knowing that you immediately identified a reliable source of sweet baked goods. I knew that I could count on you to do that.
I hope that you'll celebrate Thanksgiving with comrades. Take good care-
